Every day, consciously or unconsciously, we’re in the school of life.
Every night, whether or not we remember, we have access to the university of many lives, a greater School of Soul.
That’s because our dreams carry the voice of our soul — the wisdom we came into this life with, but have forgotten. They offer us a powerful form of “soul remembering,” our inner knowing about how to heal, grow and live fully and joyously.
Australian Aborigines believe that our personal dreams open doorways into the Dreamtime, the deeper reality from which the events and circumstances of our lives come, as well as the place where we can encounter our ancestors and touch into our spiritual powers.
Dreaming is also traveling, offering us paths to limitless adventure and possibility.
In dreams, we slip free from the normal constraints of space and time and from our everyday thought patterns and perceptions. We travel to places where our departed are at home, and to cities and schools and pleasure palaces on various levels of the Imaginal Realm, the realm of true imagination.
Dream shamans, mystics and creators have long practiced the art of journeying consciously into this world-behind-the-world, and we can learn similar practices through the techniques of Active Dreaming — a way of slipping into the Imaginal Realm while awake. (Read more about this powerful practice below.)
In dreams, we go beyond the veil of everyday consciousness. And if we pay attention to what appears behind those veils, we start to notice a play of coincidence in our waking life, as the powers of the deeper world come through to prod or tickle or goad us awake.
Yet, dreaming is not fundamentally about what happens during sleep (though there are great gifts in spontaneous sleep dreams that show us aspects of ourselves and our worlds that the waking mind doesn’t see).
Dreaming is essentially about waking up to the bigger story and the deeper logic of our lives — and of the world.
Dreaming Is About Soul and Survival…
In this 7-month, ever-deepening virtual adventure with one of the world’s most revered dream shamans, Robert Moss, you’ll be invited to find your personal answers to the eternal questions that shape your bigger story:
Who am I? Where do I come from? What is my sacred purpose in this world and beyond this world?
You’ll receive practical guidance to keep your body and soul together on the roads of everyday life. And you’ll learn from the stories of those who dreamed strong in tough times, including Harriet Tubman, whose dream visions guided her in helping 300 escaping slaves to get to freedom before the American Civil War.
You’ll also learn from a forgotten master, Synesius of Cyrene. This philosopher bishop of North Africa taught — as the Roman empire collapsed into chaos — that we must use dreams as our personal oracle, allow no one else to tell us what our dreams mean, and open to the Divine source that “in dreams makes us fruitful with its own courage.”
You’ll be led on a dream journey with Medatia, the first dream shaman of the Makiritare of Venezuela, as he ascends ten levels of the Upper World to gain the wisdom and power to bring his people and his world back from the Dark Times.
And you’ll dream travel to the depths of the Underworld with the female shaman of the Nishan River in Mongolia, who braved the Lord of Death in his inner keep to rescue a captive soul.
You’ll be inspired by stories from dreamers today and from the whole human odyssey to encourage and incite you to apply the gifts of dreaming to bring more of soul into life and to survive and thrive.
This is destined to be the most exciting and powerful virtual dream journeying program Robert has ever offered!
The Three Essential Modes of Active Dreaming
Active dreamers work with the signs and symbols and synchronicities of everyday life as well as with night dreams, conscious visions and liminal states of consciousness.
In this 7-month adventure, you’ll learn techniques to help you become a dreamer 24/7, by playing with all these states of mind.
You’ll grow, week by week, in your practice of Active Dreaming, Robert’s powerful and original synthesis of modern dreamwork, shamanic journeying and creative imagination for which there are three essential modes.
First, Active Dreaming is a way of talking and walking your dreams, of bringing energy and guidance from the dreamworld into everyday life. You’ll learn how to create a safe space where you can share dreams of the night and dreams of life with others, receive helpful feedback, and encourage each other to move towards creative and healing action.
Second, Active Dreaming is a method of shamanic lucid dreaming. It’s founded on the understanding that you don’t need to go to sleep in order to dream. The easiest way to become a conscious or lucid dreamer is to start out lucid and stay that way.
